At the Topography of Terror exhibition in Berlin, it was interesting for me to learn that all Holocaust education is free in Germany. This seems to be not only a great idea but also a necessary one. The knowledge of something as important as the Holocaust belongs to the people and definitely should not be inaccessible because of monetary issues. The image on the left is a picture of the outdoor exhibit of the museum that is a linear progression of the Holocaust, from Hitler's youth, to his rise to power, and ultimately his suicide in 1945. I think the placement of this linear progression of information of the Holocaust is important because it lies right beside remains of the Berlin Wall, so as one walks along reading the story of the Holocaust, they are reminded of another aspect of WWI that also affected millions of Germans and did so until 1989. The photo on the right is a picture of Hitler propaganda that I found very hard to ignore. This is the perversion of the "Our Father", altered to refer to Adolf Hitler himself. As a Catholic, it was difficult to read about such an image being printed in children's books and it makes me wonder how Catholic's at the time of World War I who saw this "prayer" felt about this man rising to power.
